BALDEloc
Hi, there!
We are BALDEloc, a Brazilian team made up of translation students and graduates. We participate in LocJams, translating from English into Brazilian Portuguese.
But hey, what does BALDE mean? When looking for a name for our group, we wanted something inspired by what makes it, us and our passion for our language. So we decided to look for something that included letters from each of our names. That's how we came up with "Balde", which means "bucket" in Portuguese ;) Can you guess which of our names contributed to which letter? Check out our projects and team members below:
Amanda Franco - I've been a gamer since childhood, starting with Mortal Kombat and Crash Bandicoot before diving into PC MMORPGs. Later, my partner and I created a YouTube gaming channel, and Minecraft quickly became one of my all-time favorites. Nowadays, I enjoy cozy games like Stardew Valley. Now that I've earned my degree in Language Studies, I'm focusing on game localization, and am excited to contribute to future projects!
Favorite Games: Crash Bandicoot, Kirby, Minecraft, Stardew Valley and lots more.
Gabriela Alves - Games have been with me since childhood, I grew up playing a bunch on Nintendo Wii, and now, with 3 years of experience in proofreading and translation for dubbing, I'm venturing into video game localization as a way of expanding my horizons while revisiting old memories of my childhood.
Favorite Game: The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap.
Lígia Soares - I never had access to video games (not counting the rare times my parents gave me coins for the two arcade machines at the social club we used to go to) until I turned 10 years old and got my beloved Nintendo DSI as a Christmas gift. I took that thing wherever I went and still have it to this day (in near mint condition, mind you). Video game localization has been a field of interest of mine ever since starting my career in translation, so this group is a way for me to test its waters and hopefully fall as in love with it as I did with my DSI.
Favorite game: New Super Mario Bros.
Lucas Demetrio - Video games are a part of me since I can remember. My father and I used to play together a lot of games, from sports to adventure games, and even classics like Donk Kong.
This passion for games grew up with me and I started a Youtube gaming channel along with my partner, in which we worked for more than five years. Gaming has been both leisure and work in my life for years. Games are truly a part of who I am.
Favorite Games: DK, Gears of War, Alan Wake and lots more.
